I didnt know anything about porch swings when I started looking for one. But one thing caught my eye was a review someone wrote about the chains on this swing and how they were attached. That made me take note of this part of the construction. I choose this swing because the chains DO NOT hook to the arm. I love this feature along with the rolled edge for your legs. It is pricey but worth every penny.

1. The cedar should be better matched for color--varies widely dark to light--when clear finished2. The seat strips should be spaced apart at least 1/16" so water doesn't accumulate and an outdoor finish can be applied--tight setting leads to finish cracking between strips.3. The chain outside of the arm rest is a serious pinching point for fingers-there's the reason why typically chain goes through the armrest--I have to adjust hanging location but it might not be the answer[...]

Love the swing, ordered an unfinished model and it took our Shwerin Williams ourdoor paint very well! Assembled easily but does not include any hooks or additional chains to actually hang the swing from a ceiling. I can get the materials from [...], but would have gladly paid a few extra dollars to have everything I needed in the box.

We bought this swing for a new patio and hung it from a pergola. It arrived just in time to use last Thanksgiving. The weather in TX was perfect and everyone wanted a turn to swing in the autumn sun.
It took our matching stain very well and has repelled the ice and rain.
It is a very relaxing design.
We really like that the chains are not connected to the armrest.
We looked at a lot of swings and are so glad we chose this one. No complaints.

We chose the Cabbage Hill porch swing after considerable research and deliberation among several designs and wood choices. The western red cedar coupled with traditional design and outstanding workmanship was the winning ticket. We use the swing in our garden courtyard beneath an octagonal pavillion every day during good weather. In December, we easily store it on our covered porch and erect a Christmas tree in its place. We have found no fault with this product.

Design prevents dropped items from falling through to the ground.
For winds above 20 Knots or if we will be away for a while, we just unhook the chain and rest it on the deck.
